About Mrs. Callahan
Hope Callahan is our gifted coordinator and elementary gifted teacher. Mrs. Callahan has been teaching since 1982 with the majority of these years spent in gifted education. She has a Master’s Degree in middle grades education and an Education Specialist’s Degree in middle grades with specialization areas in English, reading and social studies, which she earned at the University of West Georgia. She completed her undergraduate studies at Brenau University, where she received the Most Outstanding Future Educator award. Mrs. Callahan joined Odyssey’s staff in 2012, and her knowledge and efforts have helped Odyssey’s gifted program grow. She says this about the teaching profession: “First of all, I believe that teaching is not just a career, but is more of a calling. I also believe that, as teachers, we are helping to create society, which is both exciting and important. Teaching also provides me with the opportunity for continued learning and growth. It helps me stay up-to-date with the current trends and with new technology.” Mrs. Callahan and her husband live in Tyrone, Georgia, and they have three sons, two of which are musicians and singer/songwriters, and one who practices veterinary medicine at the University of California in Davis, Calif., specializing in oncology.
